Church-Wide Read (Summer)

What do you think of when you hear the words "spiritual warfare"? Likely, you think of intense, opposition, temptation, and struggle. Yet, there's a more subtle side of spiritual warfare. Satan's schemes aren't always obvious. In fact, his schemes often work best when they're not obvious at all. We can't afford to be ignorant of the ways the evil one seeks to get a foothold in our lives. For this reason, our summer church-wide read will be C.S. Lewis' classic work The Screwtape Letters. This excellent book is one of Lewis' most memorable works, as it enhances our understanding of both spiritual warfare and the discernment necessary for discipleship.

"At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, Lewis gives us the correspondence of the wordly-wise devil to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging account of temptation—and triumph over it—ever written."

We hope you'll get yourself a copy and invite some fellow church members along as we seek to reflect and apply the helpful lessons presented in this important book.

Tolle Lege!
