Church-Wide Read (Spring)

"They're so heavenly-minded, they're no earthly good!" A phrase uttered about some Christians that is sometimes sadly true. Yet, these people may not be heavenly minded enough! Scripture calls us repeatedly and in many ways to set our minds on things above not on earthly things (Col. 3:2). By focusing our hearts on heaven, we're able to live wisely and meaningfully in this life. C.S. Lewis put it well: “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next… It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. Aim at Heaven and you will get earth ‘thrown in’: aim at earth and you will get neither." We need more focus on eternity, not less!
