Galatians Bible Study

While we live here on earth, we will be accused, exercised with temptations, oppressed with heaviness and sorrow, and bruised by the law with its demands of active righteousness. Because of this, Paul sets out in this letter of Galatians to teach us, to comfort us, and to keep us constantly aware of this Christian righteousness. For if the truth of being justified by Christ alone (not by our works) is lost, then all Christian truths are lost.
These words, spoken by Martin Luther, give us a glimpse into the important nature of the book of Galatians. Christian righteousness is a precious gift from God that can be easily forgotten and/or seen as not enough. The apostle Paul rigorously writes to remind and persuade us that Christian righteousness is attained through faith not by works.
In our study through this letter, we will slow down and follow Paul’s argument and entreatment he gives to the church at Galatia. Quickly, we will see how this letter has a profound impact on us today. With many competing voices and compelling narratives about the way we should live, Paul points us back to Christ who sets us free to serve one another through love.
Over the course of 11 weeks, we will use the inductive bible study method as our structure to investigate and study the book of Galatians. Each week we'll study through each section in three steps: 1. Observe (what do you see?), 2. Interpret (what does it mean?), and 3. Apply (how must I respond?)
A paper with the text will be provided each week along with another paper for additional notes. If you're interested in purchasing the CSB Scripture Notebook of Galatians, you can do so here.
