Ministries

We seek to care for everyone in our church, which includes our kids, youth, and college students both during our Sunday gatherings and beyond.

Kids

We provide childcare for infants and toddlers.
Children’s Ministry is available for kids ages 4-10.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Luke 18:16).

We believe that it’s an honor and privilege to participate in the spiritual formation of children connected to our church. We aim to encourage and support the ministry of parents by faithfully teaching and modeling what it means to follow Jesus. We also want to protect and care for any child that comes through the doors of our building. This means that all of our volunteers have a personal understanding of the good news of Jesus Christ, are sufficiently trained in our childcare policy, and have gone through a proper background check.

We want to provide this ministry during our main public gatherings for three reasons. First, we seek to minister directly to children as faithfulness to the “Great Commission” (Mt. 28:16-20; Luke 18:15-17). We want to call them to believe on Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and follow Him all their days. Second, we seek to supplement parental teaching at home. The primary responsibility is on the parents to instruct their children in the things of God and model a Christian walk for them (Deut. 6:1-9; Eph. 6:1-4). Thirdly, we want to provide the opportunity for parents to receive the Word of Christ without distraction. A concentrated time of hearing God’s Word and fellowship with His people is not only a huge blessing to parents, but a needed source of grace for discipling their children the rest of the week.

To help us accomplish these goals, we use an excellent curriculum called The Gospel Project. This interactive program seeks to show kids how the whole Bible points to Jesus. Check out the video below.

Youth

Our prayer for the youth of Mount Hope Church is that they would not only learn the truths of the gospel but become firmly convinced and continue in the truths of the gospel (2 Tim. 3:14-15). To that end, we seek to encourage and equip the youth of our church through a weekly Sunday night meeting and a monthly Bible study during our morning worship service. Our desire is to provide support and community to the youth with their peers, and also to integrate them into multi-generational relationships where they can grow to love Christ and the church.

Weekly Youth Group meets Sundays from 5pm-7pm with the youth of First Baptist Church at 250 High Street. Contact Esther McGuire for more details (estheremcguire@gmail.com).

Monthly Youth Bible Study meets the first Sunday of every month during the morning sermon. This Bible study is usually led by one of the pastors/elders.

College Students

The college years are a crucial time for learning and growth. As students get out on their own they are challenged and changed in a variety of ways. Our vision is to be a safe and welcoming community for students who want to grow in their faith and also students who are investigating faith for the first time. We also believe that students should be plugged into the church and grow in relationships with Christians from different backgrounds and stages of life. Many students gather with us throughout the years and are encouraged to pursue membership as we encourage their next steps in faithfulness to Christ.

In addition to welcoming students into the life of the church, we sponsor the Christian Student Fellowship at Roger Williams University. CSF gathers for outreach, events, and conferences throughout the year. Their weekly meetings are Tuesdays at 7pm. Reach out to Shane Carvalho for more details (shane@csfrwu.com).
