Covenanted

8 February 2016

“There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope at your calling – one Lord, one faith, one baptism. one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4:4-6)

On February 7th of 2016, a new church was birthed in Bristol, RI. A small, but brave, number came together and committed to one another in Christ. We share in common our confession of faith in Jesus as our only Savior and Lord. We share in common our baptism upon our profession of faith. We share in common a commitment to “walk worthy of our calling” (Eph. 4:1). By God’s grace we will do this through our church covenant and our regular gathering together under God’s Word and observance of the Lord’s Supper.

On this night, what happened was nothing spectacular to the seeing eye. It was a simple gathering of ordinary people who trust in the extraordinary gospel of their great God. From here on out, we will do life together, pray and worship together, and seek to advance God’s kingdom together. Our prayer is that God would increase our faith, increase our number, and increase His glory in the town of Bristol. Behind the humble beginnings of Mount Hope Church is the cosmic plan of the Triune God “to bring everything together in the Messiah, both things in heaven and things on earth in Him” (Eph.1:10). May His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
