Each month we like to recommend one book for our church family to read. Whether you read it alone, or invite a fellow member to read along with you, we hope these books will expand and deepen your mind and soul. Our goal in all of this is “love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith” (1 Tim. 1:5).
August’s Book of the Month will be Living Life Backwards: How Ecclesiastes Teaches Us To Live in Light of the End by David Gibson. “Absolute futility. Everything is futile!” What’s often cited as a cry of cynicism might just be an invitation to joy. It’s when we realize that nothing in this world can be clung to as gain that we are able to receive it as gift. As we work backwards from the end, we find ourselves bombarded with the generous gifts of God that lead us to find Him as the ultimate Giver and Gift. Grab a copy of this book, some conversation partners, and be encouraged by the message of Ecclesiastes together.
Tolle Lege!
