REFORMATION DAY PSALM SING
Sunday, October 29, 6pm-7pm
Hosted by Christ Reformed Presbyterian Church
Held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Parish Hall; 81 Warren Ave. East Providence, RI (use side entrance on 4th Street)
October 31, 1517 was the day Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the Wittenberg Church door, marking the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. A key development of the Reformation was the recovery of biblical worship and congregational singing. This Sunday we have the privilege to join with several area churches in celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation by singing the biblical psalms together. The psalms were incredibly powerful in the thinking and worship of all the Reformation churches. Many of the tunes sung will be from the 16th century Genevan and Scottish psalters. Refreshments will be provided.
*This will be in lieu of our regular Sunday evening prayer service.
