Each month we like to recommend one book for our church family to read. Occasionally, we’ll host discussion groups to dig deeper into the substance of that month’s book. Whether you read it alone, or invite a fellow member to read along with you, we hope these books will expand and deepen your mind and soul. Our goal in all of this is “love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith” (1 Tim. 1:5).
April’s Book of the Month will be Deeper: Real Change for Real Sinners by Dane Ortlund. We are daily surrounded by messages that tell us how we could be better, different, happier. Whether it’s from the outside in or the inside out, people are grasping for an identity that is stable. It begs the question: How does someone truly and deeply change? For those united to Christ by faith, change happens by going deeper into the transforming truths of the gospel (not by simply doing more or being “better”). We hope this book will encourage you to see yourself as you truly are in Christ. With Him lies the power for true change.
