The Christmas season is often marked by stress and busyness leading to exhaustion. When we consider what Christmas is all about, this should not be so. Christmas is certainly a special day, but the season of Advent helps orient our hearts and prepares us to take in the beauty of that day, as we are reminded of what it looks like for God’s people to wait for their Messiah. During the season of Advent, we not only look back the birth of Christ, but we also look forward to the return of Christ. In times like these, the season of Advent is medicine for weary souls, and an opportunity to celebrate Christmas in all of its fullness.
That’s why we’ll be starting a new 4-week sermon series from the opening chapters of Luke’s Gospel to help us savor the the wonder of the season and learn afresh what it means to live by faith and wait on God.
